Hello, I'm not a maxima owner but am still a fan of anything Nissan/Datsun. I drive a 1983 280ZX (L28E) and formerly a 1987 300ZX (VG30E). And I actually had a question for a few people and maybe I can supply a little help myself. What I am looking for is the heads on the L24E's if someone has a pic of the combustion chamber or if someone can tell me if it is circular in shape or if it has the later heart shaped chambers. I have access to the N47 head off of a Maxima wagon in a junk yard near here (Theres 2 of em) and before I went through the trouble to pull the head I would love to have the answer to this question, Also if anyone is dieing for a particular part I might be able to yank it if it is there (Please dont swamp me
) I am in southern Louisiana incase someone does inquire.
The N47 head is available on the L28 engines from 1977 to 1981 with dished pistons, and on the 1st Gen. Maxima with the L24E. I am building a L28 High compression motor using the N47 head and am hoping the later maxima heads have the heart-shaped chambers (Rumors among the Z world) to resist pinging, the compression will be higher but Fel-Pro makes 2mm head gaskets for a reason
so if anyone has a pic or can just give me the answer I seek I would be very thankful!
