So today I went to track to give my built motor a few test runs to see how things are doing. Boost is at about 14-15psi in 2nd. I am not too happy with the times but I am to blame for that since I regretfully did not take my slicks!!!! hated myself, didnt really think traction was going to be THAT bad lol.
Result:
The best time was:
60'.....2.4
1/8ET.....9.0
MPH......85mph
for comparison my previous best time with the 3.0 and 312whp+nitrous at launch + slicks:
60'......2.1
1/8ET....8.6
MPH......82mph
Next time I will def take the slicks.
I was also getting alot of sputtering, and I believe it is because my timing was too low. I had to disconnect the EU ignition harness to be able to use the J&S Safeguard, so i used that for timing, the more timing I gave it, the less it would sputter, eventually it was starting to feel really strong and smooth. The JS would show retard of about 1 degree due to knock, but I do have the sensitivity almost to the max. The plugs also looked nice with no sign of detonation.
I raced a Dodge Cavalier (srt4) which dynoed 365whp370wtq, in every race i beat him by a good car or so, which gives me an idea of how much power my cars making more or less.
Yea a little, perhaps the traction issue could explain that a bit. The car did feel pretty good once I got rid of the sputtering as much as possible. I am also sure my muffler is really holding me back, because I get more boost in every gear, once it gets into 3rd gear the car really starts pulling but by then the 1/8th is done.
Next time I am going with no muffler, slicks and I am thinking about nitrous for the 1st gear like how I had it on the 3.0. because no matter how much power im making, if my 60' or 1st gear is not all that great then it hurts the end result alot (since I dont have a high stall tc).
maybe advance the timing alittle more then pull it as boost comes in with the EU
Well the more i brake boosted the more it spun, even launching from idle it would spin 1st. I think I am going to go with nitrous, brake boosting puts too much stress on the torque converter and internals as temperatures go sky high right away.
Here is short clip of one of the runs. I brake boosted a lil bit, you can hear the turbo spool up right before launch. When I have time, I am going to log a run from the hole, and see how my a/f is as boost is coming in in 1st, for now timing out of boost is stock since the EU is no longer controlling the timing (the J&S is)
Man I saw the clip, I thought it would spin more. And you beat a neon with 365 whp. I think your getting good traction if thats all the wheel spin your getting. But slicks would help.

Yea its not serious traction like spinning all the way down the track, but 1st gear def spins as you see in the clip, and also when it shifts into 2nd gear it spins a bit of 2nd then catches.
why in the world did you not think traction would be an issue on street tires at 15psi of boost lol
I did know it was going to be an issue, I just went to the track for a little fun and didnt wanna bother changing wheels and all that. its the first time being on the track with no slicks (which I do regret lol). I always take slicks.
