advice please

I am attempting to break into the 13's on street tires. 2 weeks ago I had the zex 75 hp jets installed and only ran a 14.2 Last night I had the 100 shot jets in, and I could only get a 15.0. I can't activate the nitrous until the top of 1st gear otherwise I spin using the 75 and 100 shots. I definitely felt the 100 shot kick in, so I know its working, but I think traction is a serious issue. I was thinking of actually dropping the shot down to a 65 shot so hopefully the car can keep traction, and then save the higher shots for when i finally get slicks. I'm beginning to realize how pointless it is to have higher shots on street tires. What is your guys' advice? Should I drop the shot down so hopefully the street tires can hold it, or stay with a bigger shot?

As a side note. Just thought I'd mention the brand new GTR that was there last night. It was running 11.7 -11.9 all night. Taking out muscle cars left and right. It was awesome! Ok, back on topic.

There is a forum for nitrous you can find a lot of detailed info on there. From what I have read and heard from other people is that its pretty much pointless to get nitrous if you dont have slicks. Im gonna do a 75 shot but Im waiting till I can afford a set of slicks to go with it.

What rpm are you starting to spray at?
What are your 60ft times?
What kind of street tires are you using?
What is your tire pressure at?

The initial torque is causing you to loose traction. I would say try the 65 shot to see what happens. Your just gonna continue to spin on the 75/100 shots. I'm not saying it's impossible but it's gonna be tough! I was trying to get into the 12's on street tires and was having a VERY diffucult time so I finally gave up lol. I still have traction issues on a 100shot using Nitto DR's.. Nitrous is fun but you def have to figure your car out in order to get it's full potential out of your setup.. But again since you've had no luck with the higher shots give the 65shot a try and see what happens.. If that fails then go buy some DR's or slicks which ever ones you prefer.. Good luck!

Spraying at top of first gear. About 4K rpms...Maybe wait until 2nd gear?
60 ft times are 2.3 to 2.5...Crappy!
Dunlop sp 5000's one size larger sidewall than stock.
Tire pressure at 25psi.
If you have traction issues on drag radials I have no business running my 100 shot on street tires. I'm going back tomarrow. I'll start with the 65 shot jets.
Any other advice?

That's the problem with nitrous being WOT only on street tires. Once you hit WOT your nitrous kicks in and you go from 250hp to 350hp or whatever, but your tires can only hold 300hp, so you can't find that happy medium to be on the very edge of traction.

I don't know what kind of 60's you're cutting but if you are dead set on sticking with street tires the best thing is probably to get a progressive controller to run the maximum amount you can without ruining your traction in first gear and then turn up the juice once you're in second gear. Or at least run a dual stage. I don't run nitrous so I don't know the specifics of what parts you'd need, but you obviously have too much power for your tires in 1st gear and there's not much you can do about it besides either have less power in first gear or better tires which you said you don't want.

I definitely want slicks, but my cash flow is low right now. That's why I'm trying to do the best I can on street tires. I'm going back with a smaller shot on friday. I'll save the bigger shots for when I can afford slicks.

What he said.... Even with M&H 24.5 x 8 slicks, I can only hold a 75-shot on launch - then I can usually get into the second-stage 100-shot later into first gear. If the track has a lousy prep, then even the 75-shot is too much.

Try a 35-shot next with street tires - you still can't launch with it, but you'll get better traction and a better experience.

If you want to use the higher nitrous levels, then you will need slicks.

Get some used slicks off of craigslist or something.

I have a goal of trying to get as fast as I can w/o expensive exhaust work for now. I know headers would benefit me a lot, but I want to try to get to the 13's with street tires and no headers. Then my next goal will be high 12's with slicks and a bigger shot. I want to say I can run fast times with my only exhaust mod being a test pipe/cutout. We'll see...
