02 Sterling GLE- 13.84@100 2.1'
Grey car in the middle is me haha first time to the track with some friends. I wasn't happy with my times at all, especially with all the mods I have. Ran the front tires at 22psi and my best time was when I didn't rev it up at all.
My first run, I beat a sentra spec v with intake and exhaust by .05 seconds haha that was a horrible run at 15.3. My best was a 14.6. I gotta figure out what I can do better next time.
It was awesome going down there and seeing 2 other maximas!

The 14.6 run, what was your mph? And I agree, with those mods you should be 14.2-14.3 IMO.

I'm not trying to be a **** it's just some constructive critisicim. You should be running probably high 13's with that setup. I too am having some problems with my 1/4 mile times with my mods but it seems like I am getting better. With just OBX headers/y-pipe, intake, ssim, untuned I went 14.2 @ 100mph. What is your trap because that will tell us if you are getting that power to the ground good.

Yeah man it definitely was, I was like YO BRO 5TH GEN LOOK. I mean even though you didn't run times you should, you still were faster than me. Both you guys probably confused the crowd because they see your cars that look basically stock then they see my race car darkness bat mobile looking **** and im barely crackin 15s.
Post your slips though so we can see whats wrong. Im gonna say its your 60'. Every second you shave off your 60' means almost .2 off your quarter. So say when you hit 14.6, if you had a 2.5 sixty or even a high 2.5 sixty, you can hit 14 flat and better if you can get it down to a 2.2 or 2.1. You have the capability in that car to hit a 2.0. The teal one was hitting 2.3s as well so both of you can improve. I know if my 3.0 can nail a 2.3 you guys def can.
Get that 60' to 2.1 and you should be running 14 flat.
If its not your 60' though you simply probably arent stretching gears enough, or perhaps some slower shifting.
Regardless it was your first time so you did well, and at the end of the day as long as you had fun and were safe thats all that really matters.
What is your trap because that will tell us if you are getting that power to the ground good.
Never figure out why people don't include that because it tells a lot about the power the car is making. First run I made with my old Chevelle after a cam change was a 16.96 @ 95 mph so I knew the car was making power, just wasn't getting it to the ground. If the trap speed had been in the low 80s as is typical for that ET, then it would have been obvious I had a serious power problem.

If you're looking at trap to determine power (especially on a N/A car) you may also want to consider the DA at the track that day. Dragtimes can pull weather data for pretty much every track down to the minute on your time slip so you can get a very exact DA number.
Last year i trapped 104 untuned in -415 DA, then a few weeks ago trapped 104 in 2400 DA tuned with new mods... had I not known the huge difference, I would have thought my car was having serious issues. Turns out had it been 0 DA, I would likely have trapped a low 107. Just giving personal experience to reinforce my point.

That's why I think my car is running 100% better then the last time around I had it. With Cattman Gen III Headers/Y-pipe, SSIM, GAB, Test Pipe, Catback, SAFC-2 Professionally tuned, I went 14.1 @ 98.15 with a best trap of 99.51 when the DA was -413. Now this year with OBX Headers/Y-pipe, SSIM, Cone Filter, Stock Cat, Stock Catback, No Tune, I went 14.2 @ 99.71 with the DA being +2055...I don't get it.

my best 1/4 was a 14.4. 2.4 60ft and I missed 4th gear. all i have is a intake and a open y-pipe.
That's not too bad, what was your trap speed...is the VQ35 swap giving you any trouble yet??? Also do you still have the 5-speed or did you swap in the 6-speed tranny as well???

I agree with Pimpin' you should easily be a 13s car. You ran .6 seconds slower than I did in my stock car. If you trapped under 100 your car has issues..otherwise you need to keep at it and practice. One thought is that lowering your tire pressure is good for traction, but if you go too low on street tires you actually are doing way more harm than good..
So...what did the teal one run?

02 Maxima -80k, 6 spd, 214whp/233wtq 5.5 gen Stock ET/Trap records? 14.01 @ 99.77mph 2.14 60ft. STOCK! And getting lower..

no trouble at all! Im still useing my stock 3.0 ecu and 5speed tranny. my trap speed was 97 or 98 I cant remember. when i missed 4th gear I didnt bother to put it back in to finish. I just let the car go by itself. lol. I would have got a higher trap speed.
The 4th run was the only time I didn't launch the car, I just started off normally. I shift very quickly and around 6700 rpm, maybe a little too much? Seems like the car is not making power much after 6300 or so. Any recommendations?
And when I left, the teal car ran a 13.9, not sure if he did better after that. He had the same mods as me, I believe, but without being tuned. He also had a 3" cutout that I don't have.

All I know is that I launched from about 2200 and feathered it a little bit in my car and I was cutting low 2.2 lights on my RS-A's (which are terrible) and the same approach got me 2.1's on other tires. I shift at redline in every gear. You should be trapping MUCH higher than you are and running a lot faster..try like 24 psi in the tires? I had mine at 27 but plan to drop it a little next time.
So the teal car is the same without a tune but has a cutout..interesting, but even untuned 13.9 seems about right to me..tuned mid 13s probably? What was he trapping? You guys should both be 102+ mph cars..

I agree. You should be much quicker. Your mph is better than mine, as my best is 95.6. But my best ET is 14.5 with only an intake. So you just need to learn how to launch better and you will be in the 13's. I can't wait to do either headers or exhaust. But I think the NWP spacers will be my next mod, as it seems to be the best bang for the buck.
