Conditions weren't exactly optimal tonight with <30 barometric pressure, high humidity, and 93 degrees, but still got some PBs! Just posting up times tonight will upload pics of the car and slips tomorrow, but here's a rundown:
I was hoping to break 12s, but it definately wasn't my night with the conditions the way they were. Hopefully I can get a cool/dry night sometime soon for some better times. My trap was definately down from that perfect 60 degree night last fall where I got the 105-106s.
Nice runs. I was also wondering where you launched at. I think that you do have 12's as it sits.

nice times, I was expecting alittle more with the u-tec install do you think changes are required.
either why atleast your headed in the right direction
Well the car feels way stronger on days with better atmospheric conditions. I was datalogging the whole time and my tune is spot on, I just need a better track day to see the 106 traps and hopefully high 12s. That run last year was in 60 degree weather with 0 humidity and high barometic pressure... last night was basically the opposite of the conditions I need to see to get the most out of the car.
Honestly tonight would have probably been another one of those 14s @ 99-100 nights if it wasn't for the UTEC. The bolton/mevi 4th gens were running bests of high 15s in the low 90s last night.
On the other hand my buddy's cobalt runs better the hotter it gets... he pulled a best of 13.16@107.4 on street tires with a 2.17!!! Turbo cars FTW when it comes to depending on atmospheric conditions for good times...
I launched at around 3k on street tires, and started to hit the gas as I slipped the clutch, and let the clutch fully engage around 4k rpms then floored it. I shifted a little easy into 2nd then no lifted the rest of the track.
On slicks I was launching between 4 and 6k. My best 60 foots were at around 4500 rpm and letting the clutch out HARD but not hard enough to cause it to bog.
One of the guys last night took a crappy cell phone vid of one of my worse runs, if he sends it to me soon I'll get it uploaded on youtube or photobucket and link it up in the first post.

good runs man! what PSI were you running in your street tires? -gotdamnit, i gotta get my car fixed...-
I ran 25psi in my 1 run on street tires. I think I could get a 2.0 with about 22 psi and a little practice on the launch. It dead hooked and I'm sure I didn't push it as far as I could have.

Thanks man, 1.8s are definately a rush. I even pulled a high 1.8 with my GF in the car and she got pretty excited by it lol
I think I will need wider slicks to pull lower '60 foots. I was spinning all night, including on the 1.8 runs... the little 8.5" just don't quite cut it.
i would love to send that video to you, but it wont let me because it says the file exceeds the proper size or something. too large of a file for my cell phone....

Try lowering the pressure quite a bit more. Try them at around 10psi, and I bet you won't spin.

Congrats on the new times! What kind/size street tires are you running? You seem to be launching a lot higher than I was..
FWIW, I planned on running the same 22 psi in my tires next time, hopefully it works out for the both of us!

Yeah I've pulled bottom 2.0s on them at the local 1/8th mile with amazing track prep. Next set on the front is going to be 255/35 general exclaim UHPs or dunlop star specs if I want to spend twice as much.

I recommend re01r's or the advan a049 (I think) but they are pretty expensive, though tirerack was having a great deal on the re01r's..

Well I've had great experience with the exclaim UHPs pulling 2.0/2.1 '60s in my spec V with 225/45/17s (for half the price of most other summer tires) and the dunlop star specs are said to be the next KDW-2 for dry traction and get considerably better reviews and better price than the re01rs.
Dunlop Direzza Star Specs are the tires of choice right now. They are winning every comparison they're put in. They win dry traction and try track time comparisons by a little bit, and absolutely demolish every other tire in their class in the wet. And they're the cheapest in their class by a long shot. I just bought a set
That said, my best street tire 60' times ever came on some 4 or 5 year old all season H rated tires and I've never noticed any significant improvement in 60' times from one street tire to another, from old *** all seasons to high end wide Z rated tires, over the course of about 500 track passes (probably 300 of which were on street tires).
OP: Awesome times man.

hit the 1/8th mile tonight and had almost identical conditions, even had some rain. Best was a 8.4@83.5. Going to wait for either new mods, a really cool night, or maxus before I hit the track again!
Just spent a little time messing with dragtimes DA calculator and correction and my runs from last year on 12/06/2008 were -415 feet DA... So those UNTUNED 105 mph traps N/A make sense!
My runs from 5/09/2009 (the ones in this thread) were 1800-2400DA depending on the time of the night, and with their corrections my 13.0@104 would have been high 12.6s in the high 106-low 107 trap range.
Hopefully I can get a nice day sometime before fall (doubtful) but I guess I can look forward to some quicker times when the weather gets better closer to fall/winter!

Well I personally went from 2.2-2.3 '60s on 225/50/17 goodyears spinning halfway through 2nd to 2.0-2.1s on 245/45/18 potenzas and able to floor it in 1st. I'm sure the width/height made the biggest difference over compound, though.
