first time with the 3.5 (worst times you will ever see)

So i go to the track on friday night for the first time with my 3.5 swap ready for my really low 14s.

It was the worst night of my life!! I could not get any traction at all. I was spining so much like if there was water on the track. I would go araund the water box so i know i didnt have any water on my tires. Im just not used to all this tourque.

On my last run i tried to take off normal like if im on a public street at a red light but i fail and i bog of the line and to make things worse i missed 4th gear!

these are the worst times I have ever made and i hope i will get better times this friday when i go back.

look at my 60ft I have never seen that bad of a 60ft in my life!

Well at least your trap is there. 97 mph is around a 14.2 or so. After a few trips you'll get your times down to where they're supposed to be.

Replace the ypipe and you'll defiantly see 13's.

Traps are not too bad, but you definitely need to work on getting out of the hole. Just look at the difference in ET on your 2.3x 60' versus the others.

Good luck! Hopefully ill be making my 13s pass tonight or next tuesday..

At least you know you dont have any problems with the car. I'd actually be ok with those times my first time out after an engine swap.

im ok with real low 14s. im just mad at myself for not being able to launch off the line. when i had the 3.0 my 60ft times were always 2.2 or 2.1 on street tires.

I just cant control all this tourque i guess.

+ 1. I think the car has high 13's in it, just have to work on your launch. I have the same problem with half the power you have LOL!!!

are the axles a problem if you run DR's or slicks?

if i get slicks i know i may break one of my axles and have to pay for it to get it towed to my house. so i rather just replace my axles so that wont happen.

no one ever breaks axles in maximas... not even us 400-500whp+guys launching on slicks from redline pulling low 1.7s. don't worry about axles.

(knock on wood, I'll probably break an axle next time i'm at the track now lol)

A 4th gen 3.5 with just a y-pipe is a 13.9@100-101 car without weight reduction (except spare).

I agree... Not much worry about axles. I have been clutch dumping 5k rpm launches with a 75 shot off the line on slicks and haven't had any issues.

From my experience, aftermarket clutches are what blow axles & gears. I suggest manual guys to keep a stock-ish clutch as long as possible. 2001 AE clutch for 5-speeds and the stock 6-speed clutch is VERY strong.

If I had a turbo on low boost and a 6-speed in my car, I would honestly keep the stock clutch.

I'm at 100k and I drive very hard, and the stock clutch grips like the day I bought it. In fact I just chirped 3rd at almost 70 mph on the way home today

you are wrong sir i know personally two different 4th gens with 3.5 swaps that snapped the driver side axles on Drag Radials, 1st 4th gen was cammed and etc. mods launching at 5k, the 2nd was a stock 3.5 swap with bolt-ons launching a 2500

Yeah, my car does it no problem. I will admit my tires aren't good....they're brand new, but they're Eagle RS-A's...which are nearly as bad as the stock RE92 Potenzas that came on my car (ok, that's a stretch..but they're not good)

I wish my traction were that good! Last time I had bald tires and it was raining I couldn't even make it up a hill doing 70 mph on the interstate in 6th gear....my speedometer shot up to 150 mph immediately. Even with good tires I can't floor it in 3rd at anything over 35 mph in the rain or they just light up.

When it's dry out I have no issues chirping 3rd and burning half way through second. It sucks.
