97 gxe and 2000? eclipse Gt?

Well here is how the story goes....

Me and my buddys just got done finishing a meal and so forth....so we come up to a light and we see this kid in his eclipse GT, I dont know what year it was it looked fairley new, So we know he wanted to mess around a little, granted I have 3 people in my car all about 170-190lb range, and subs in the trunk so I thought this would be a easy walk away win....wishful thinking I guess..the light turns green and i sorta hestitate at the line becuase I was confused if he wanted to race or not, but he did so i got a late start we pull even in 1st (both auto) and then 2nd hits and he starts to walk me...I dont know what the problem was both are pretty much stock from what i could tell....I can find the kid and rerace him on my private road...is it worth doing again when he raced me with just him against me and 3 kids in my car??? help this is really bugging me...

Well how much did he walk you buy? Weight loss wont help you beat him if he seriously walked all over you, because his car could just be more powerful.

Why is this buggin you? You had 3 people in the car, a Civic could have probably outgunned.

first he pulled away about half a car but thats also do to a really hesitant start..then lil more in 2nd but then i was inching up

Than you more than likely raced a 4cyl version if you could reel him in with 3 people in the car. The V6 auto model is comparable to a 4th generation.

it was a gt it was def a V6 my friend has the 1.8 liter i think it is GS and i just destroy that....this one was different....

dude my brother has a 01 gt with intake catback and his car is the triptronic and its slow. ive beaten him before. the 4 cyl are jokes. i bet it was the v6

the GT is v6, I asked the kid it was 2001 gt.....he said we can race anytime again...should I or what (on a closed street)..

So something that runs 15.6-16.1 stock is slow and that makes an automatic 4th generation what?

Also, did the thread starter not read the rules in this section? Its for drag racing (NON ILLEGAL STREET RACING), there is a seperate section called "weekend battles" for street racing.

01 GTs are good for 205 hp and weigh a bit more than a GXE I would guess. I don't think the SOHC Mitsu has the same broad power band as the VQ. Stock numbers are slower than the Maxima. Must have been your added weight.

as an owner of an 03 eclipse GT i can tell you the 01 (and my 03)have 200 hp and run 0-60 in 6.7 with a manual. the auto loses a tenth or two from that.

I believe those times are for the 210hp GTS with the variable intake manifold.

Since when does mitsu have a VIM? Not even on the 3.8 260hp is going to have a VIM. But they do have MIVEC

It was part of the GT-S package. They gained a VIM and also about 10hp in the process. The base GT still had the standard fixed IM

Nice ... I saw a cool as concept in one of the motor trends I saw recently and it was nice, and sadly enough, large wheels, lowered, nice brakes .. on a galant

So the GT-S has 270 ?

wtf? i had 3 people in the car? what are you talking about i think you have ur post mixed up. ive raced my brother at sears point a few times. where did u get the 3 people in my car thing lol? i have raced on the street before. but im just saying his eclipse is slow he ran consant low 16.s and one high 15.

well he was calling bs on me. i guess he mixed us up bro. cause i raced at track . and he was saying i ate food then had 3 people in the car. i dunno what he is thinking but ya.

also btw my brohter doesnt take car of his car. he hasnt change his plugs or cleaned his filter or anything exept oil since new and he has 65000 miles so i think its supost to be faster than it is but who knows.

let me just say somthing i have a 05 cavalier and i beat a 4th gen max by a car and a 2002 gt by about 10 feet if it is auto its slow period.
