possible for 14s with stock auto?

Hey, I just realized that without extreme modification, my automatic transmission will most likely die under added hp (nitrous, turbo/aupercharger). Is it at all possible to run 14s at the track with my stock auto tranny without having it blown to bits?

Would it be worth it to swap to 5spd?

Thanks.

What are you talking about?

jime's auto has done 3 seasons on a stock tranny iirc, it runs 12s with 150 shots....

i beat on mine and it's fine 160k+.

buy and upgraded VB and throw on a tranny cooler and you'll be fine for whatever you want to do...

if your tranny fails it's beacuse it was worn out and going to fail anyways...i wouldn't worry.

i'm very happy with my nissan tranny.

I am doing 14s every time I step on the gas. I beat on my car pretty hard, but I keep it maintained flawlessly. I have a VB mod and always keep my tranny temps low and my fluid in new condition.

But I will build my tranny up before I go turbo.

Fluid changes are a must on a modded car....

They are a must on any car. But they are even more important when you start pushing more HP.

i think it would personally... my friend has a stock 5 spd. 4th gen, and we lined my 95 auto against it and he absolutley killed me, of course i was turning over 18's and a system. but i would go for the swap.

Are 14's possible in a fed-spec auto maxima? Yes. Possible in a cali-spec auto maxima like mine? Not a snowball's chance in hell.

Yes, but we are talking STOCK here, and if you are running 12.9, you are obviously NOT stock lol.

is stock auto the same as non modded automatic cause if it is i dont think its possible cause if its stock, the numbers are high 15's. but if your talking about any stock max 14's are obtainable thru high revving and good shifting.

I think he means anything short of FI. With bolt-ons, your stock auto tranny will get you into the 14s. You'd probably be about as fast as a 5spd if not a tick quicker.

Yes, with all the bolt ons, your 3 liter can make it into the 14s...no way in hell if you keep it stock...just to give you an idea of how hard it is to make an auto 5th gen 3.0 quick, that's what I drive, and I have intake, y-pipe, no main cat, and an HKS axle-back exhaust...I took out my back seat for a run, and was only able to get a 15.2....A bone *** stock 5th gen 3.0 liter 5-speed GXE can beat that with a good driver...the cheapest way to get your car into the 14s is to take out all the trunk insulation, jack, spare donut, back seat bottom and seatbacks, passenger seat, bolt some 15 inch lighter GXE steelies in place of the heavier stock 17 inchers on your front wheels, and you may, just MAY squeak into the 14s with a bone-stock automatic.
