Baby steps, new PB - 14.31@99.34mph

Finally got a new PB today. The weather was some of the best I've seen in KC with a DA of near sea level.

Conditions:

Upper 40s/low 50s
60-70% humidity
30.5 baro
1100' elevation (actual)

I still suck running on the DRs and still haven't figured out the best launch. I still spin a lot all thru 1st with my 60 foots hanging in the upper 2.1s and one 2.27. Maybe it was the temps or maybe it's me getting to greedy with the throttle and launch (4000-4500rpms). I only ran 4 times the whole day thanks to cars breaking down on the track and their dipsh!t owners continuing on down the track when their suppose to immediately slow down and pull off to the side of the track. Thanks to their stupidity they coated the lanes in lot of oil.

My goal was to beat my 14.40 and I did it, barely.

60' 2.182
330' 6.053
1/8 9.268
MPH 78.19
1000' 12.040
1/4 14.310
MPH 99.34

I also ran two 14.4s and a 14.5 and all my MPHs were above 98mph today. Today I experimented with shifting into 4th at ~6700-6800rpm (basically right before the finish). According to my calculated shift points, the ideal 3-4 gear change would be at 6700-6800rpms. I guess it wasn't to be because I was .05-.06 and .5mph+ slower on those runs.

My mods:

MEVI 5200rpm switchover
JWT ECU 7000rpm limiter
WSP non-mandrel y-pipe
2001 Maxima muffler
HKS intake/stock intake resonator
225/50R15 BFG DRs

no passenger seat/spare
1/4 tank of 94 octane

Good ET's and great traps Dave. Thanks for trying out the 3-4 shift.

I really think the DR's need to be warmed up. A fellow org member got a good vid of me at the track last weekend and you can see my tires spin like crazy for the 1st 15 feet or so then hook, I would still muster a mid 2.1 60'. If I were to hook from the get go I would have a low 2.0 no problem. 2.0 60' = 13 sec run.

Mike, did you ever try slicks? Don't like them?

Mike's clutch told him it would disown him if he ran slicks again.

Yhea, I owned slicks for a few months I got from Nealoc187. Burnt my clutch up real bad with them. It was mostly my fault, but I switched to DR's anyhow.

Great times Dave.

I'm looking into drag radials next year too and hope to have some positive results with them.

99mph trap speed is awesome. really nice times
i know this maybe silly but at the track i go to they give you a "100MPH Club" sticker when you trap more than 100mph in the 1320. do you guys get that are your tracks?

Unfortunately no. I think they'd have to give out a lot of stickers because 90% of the cars out there are muscle/sports cars that are easily trapping 100mph+. My track is pretty busy because it's the only track in the Kansas City metro area and there are usually 200-300 cars running depending on the weather.

Good job, Dave. Weather looks like it was similar to when I ran my best down here. Congrats.

Thanks man. When are you coming up to dyno? KCIR will be open into December assuming the temps are above 40 degrees on raceday (Sunday).

Nice job to you too. Seems the colder weather is bringing everone's times down a bit. Those 225/50/15's are pretty short to hold 3rd (ok, maybe fine with MEVI). I tried the 3-4 shift once and although the ET was the same my trap speed was cut by 3mph.

Just saw that BFG sells a 235/60/15 drag radial also. That might be ideal at 26.1"diam for holding 3rd.

As soon as I can get the funds together. We took an out of the blue trip to LA a couple weeks ago. My PayPal account hasn't fully recovered yet.

Dave, are you heating up your DRs? If not, then you are not coming close to their full potential. You'll find that a 2-3 second burnout does wonders for your 60' time.

For me, I will only get 2.25s without a burnout, chirping the tires off the line several times. When I do a small burnout, it pulls me out of the water box b/c they get so sticky. Then, I can cut 2.17-2.19s without a single chirp of the tires.

I can get 2.1's all day with my DR's and not warming them up. I have gotten a 2.09 twice w/o warming them up. But that is not good enough for me. If I pulled a 1.99 I would run 13's.

when it was 85 degrees out i droped the clutch at 4000rpm spinning for a few rotations. 2.088 -2.090 with 50's-60's outside best 2.190 average 2.2-2.3 . all 60's givin no burn out
