ran for the first time

Last friday I went to the track and ran for the first time...it was only 1/8mi...The first two runs I screwed up on staging and the lights started going off while I was trying to get back...hahahahha. Anyway I finally got the staging thing right and I ran:

RT= .54 (.00 is perfect)

60ft= 2.34

1/8= 9.9365

mph= 74

-- I have a 98 GXE with: I/Y/E, no MEVI and I am on Stock ECU

The only weight reduction I did was take out the spare tire (I was in a hurry and we got there late), I did not switch my wheels (so I was on my 18's), since every time I have preped more for the track I have been rained out.

---so how did I do? I know my 60ft can come down some, but other than that do you guys have any advice?

In my best 1/4 mi run I hit a 2.27 60'...9.535 1/8th @ 74.93mph.

What were your shift points from 1st to 2nd to 3rd?...or are you auto?

I am manual....I think I can hit those times with my stock wheels back on....I was shifting around redline in every gear....my first pass I did not look at the tach(I know that dumb) I just went off sound a feel...but the second run (the one I posted times for) I am not positive where I shifted 1-2 but I am positive it was close to redline and 2-3 I shifted at 6500. If I pay more attention to my shift points and get my 60' down I think I can hit mid to lower nines....I was not catching traction until half way thru second.

--I also forgot to mention I have a STS, ACT clutch, and a fidanza flywheel

I did not have a bogging problem that I have heard other people have had....I dont think I do a traditional launch though. I feather the gas at the line rather than holding it steady....but that could be something I just did because it was my first time. COmpairing it to stock I can say it is harder to drive, but mind you I did the clutch and flywheel at the same time. I went from all stock and sliping clutch, to new ACT/Fidanza. Its more of a pain now just in around town driving (clutch grabing harder, and reving faster)....Over all I am happy with my set up....I think I still have room to bring my times down more once I get a better launch.

Nice set-up.

The times are equivalent to a low 15's so for your first time you should be proud. The launch could use some work, the 2.3xx 60' isn't a great time, but it ain't lousy. Good 1/8th Mile trap speed. Go get the mevi and ecu and run like the big dogs. I have a lot of respect for the work the 4th gen guys do to make their cars quick.

Your car is real purty by the way
