1st time running at track

I ran at the track for the first time today. I ran 4 times then it got rained out, but my best was a 15.6almost 15.7, but i spun pretty bad off the line. It was about 87F outside with real high humidity. But it was fun, i know i could hve gotten my times down more if it would have been rained out. Here is the best time, which was also my best mph's.

RT .... .161
60' .... 2.455
330 ... 6.678
1/8 ... 10.156
MPH ...70.38
1000 ...13.160
1/4 ... 15.698
MPH ... 88.71

looks like you had a go of it off the line with that 2.4 , but you did pretty good. you know that 60 will only get better as you visit the track more, so with some practice and a cool day at the track low 15's are in reach.

are your tires stock or aftermarket ? i forget about the 01 models if you guys had 15's or 16's .. try swaping your stock rims if you are running larger aftermarkets.

will you be going back or one and done ?

Ceasar,I think the 17s are his stock wheels...There was a comparison with the different wheels of the 3,4,5 gens. The 17s on the 5 gen hurt times the most. I had those 17s but went back to stock recently.

practice makes perfect. i did 15 secs once with a s/c so yours is not that bad for a first time. now after some practice and proper equipment i avg around 13+ in the 1/4. so get to work.

Oh i will definitly be going back, i had a great time though i only went 4 times before it started storming. My brother came down a liitle after me with his 99 s/c max but he couldnt run b/c of the rain. My wheels are the stock 17's. What kind of 60' should i be getting bone stock? Also on the those runs i didnt lower my tire pressure at all cause i wanted to get on the track asap before the storm so they were at 44psi, and they are the Michilin(sorry for spelling) sport a/s, great tires by the way. Thanks for your replies.

At which track did you run, Richmond or VMP? I believe I saw your brother at Richmond last fall, he has a non intercooled Vortech setup if we're talking about the same guy. As for your times, I feel your pain with the 60 ft times. Stock, my 2000(SE with 16's) ran a best of 15.06 @ 92.7 with a 2.3 '60 ft. I would average from high 2.3 - high 2.4 and between 15.1-15.3with mph consistently 91.5-93. I was launching between 2500 and 3000 and would get a ton of wheel hop. Your mph seems kind of low, but as you said it was in the upper 80's an really humid.

Drop your tire press down to 26-27psi(don't drop below 25psi or you may get shudder) & do a dry burn out and that should help you get your 60' times down to the 2.3 range or maybe even better. Good luck and have fun.

Don't do a burnout just spin them really quickly to get any rocks off them that might be stuck to them. Good 60' times come with practice generally. You should be able to get it to about 2.25 without much problem
