"Power shifting" as one puts it

A friend of mine askes me if I power shift during a race. He explains it as never taking your foot off the gas. Thats how he races. I say no, I like my tranny thanks, I'll granny shift. But curiosity got me thinking so I tried it twice. Once on dry pavement and I got the most 2nd gear rubber ever and the other on wet pavement and got the most wheel spin, all through 2nd gear. Then the sound was so familiar and I remebered SR20DENs exhaust video and it sounds like he uses the same technique. Does anyone do this type of shifting? It seems hard on the drivetrain but if its safe for track use what the heck. I'm not doing it anymore, but someone experianced can please fill me in on quick Maxima shifting....be easy on 3rd gear.

Dont do it. Your whole drive train is put under so much stress that you WILL brake something and you run the risk of over reving your engine or bounsing it off the rev limiter too much and blowing it.

When you can't out power, you must out drive.
