Hit the track again, ran pretty well

I went to the local strip again. Ran a new best for this particular track. I was just running street tires at street pressure. Just took the spare and jack out. Ran with 15 extra lbs of miscellaneous tools, books, helmet, etc in the car. I'd call the conditions 65-70 degrees with 40% humidity probably. Temp going down and humidity going up as the night went on, but I ran my best run when it was still warmer with lower humidity.

Here's the slip:

2.175
5.983
9.102 @ 79.10mph
11.801
14.081 @ 99.36mph

Also I made 2 runs with the MEVI inactive, because I somehow pulled a wire off my RPM switch. It was apparent the second I ran out 1st gear that I was down on top end. The sound of my car wheezing at 7200rpm was also a dead giveaway but I decided to keep in it. Ran a 14.43 @ 95.9 on a 2.20, and I decided to try one more time and ran a 14.57 @ 96.6 on a 2.35 which is one of my worst launches ever. Then I figured out what was wrong and ran the timeslip I listed above. I also ran some other 14.0s, 14.1s and 14.2s. Even had a 14.3 thrown in there if I recall correctly.

Cars to note at the track were a brand new Pontiac GTO 6spd running that ran a best of 14.4 @ 99, I think he was a track noob. Also a turbo cavalier which ran me to a 14.20 @ 100.x when I ran a 14.22 or something like that at 98.x. Also a supercharged and nitroused cavalier which dusted me running a 13.7 @ 103. Last pass of the night was a great race with a GTP which ran 14.15 @ 98.1 to my 14.16 @ 99.2. Also there was a door slammer 67 camaro, full dash, 2 seats, working windows and working lights, stock body panels, which ran 7.7 @ 183 on just a 10.5" slick.

does your car normally gain around 20 mph from 1/8th to 1/4 mile? I have only been to the track with my 5spd once but I was running only 76.x mph in the 1/8th but was still trapping around 99 mph in the 1/4. I know I need to work on my driving, but should my car be faster in the 1/8th or is that showing that it will be faster in the 1/4 than it is now? When I was auto I was trapping in the 78-79 mph range but the auto gearing was better for the 1/8th.

Usually 20-21mph. My 1/8ths are usually in the hi 78 low 79 range. Theyve been as high as 81 but that was when I was trapping 101 and 102mph. 76mph seems really low in the 1/8 mile for your car. I think you need some more data before we can make a conclusion about how much your car typically gains in the last 1/8 as a 5spd.

nice run nealoc. from what i see when i went the last few times i gained about 20 mph from the 1/8-1/4 mile on almost all my runs. the trick i think is to get it up by the 1/8 mile by better r/t and 60'. my previous runs were 14.060 @ 102.5 and 13.5 @ 104mph in a auto but my 1/8 traps were in the 80' mph range.
