k so i finally go to the track to say the least i was very disappointed....here were the conditions
wind:nnw @ 9mph
59 degrees
62 % rel. humdity
barometer 30.09
elevation tad bit over 5000ft
previous best was a 17.5 @80.80, this was with a bad knock sensor, timing chain probelms, ebay intake and muffler.
Todays best 16.763@84 mph and a 2.6 60'. I now have a weapon-r intake, wsp y-pipe, staight pipe, b-pipe and rear section, and underdrive pulley....It had some serious lag between 2000 from where i power braked to 3500...if i could get some more power between there i would be quite a bit faster...any suggestions...dont have time slips left them at my parents house...but if any additional information would be helpful you can ask and i should have them by tomorrow
2.3 60' should be doable even at 5000'. With a 2.6 60', I could outrun your car on foot in the first 60'. You're probably better off just launching off idle if you're spinning that much. You're probably also causing the tranny to shift from 1st gear too early because the spin is so bad.
The 5000' elevation is killing your VQ too, but I'm sure you already knew that. The elevation alone is sucking out about 1.2 seconds. So right there you're at a 15.5 seconds even with the 2.6 60' at sea level. If you can get a 2.3 that would knock another .6 seconds of so. At 5000' you should be able to get lower 16s with your mods. At sea level you could be looking at high 14s.
Like I've always said, if I lived anywhere where the altitude was over 1800', you'd see me driving a turbo/SC car. They don't suffer nearly as bad at altitude. Seriously speaking, if you plan on living in Colorado for a while and want a fast car, dump the Maxima and get a WRX or Grand Prix GTP.

yeah i dont know how much longer imma be here in co...but its probably the only place ull see a wrx run a 15...my first run was against a srt-4 with a mopar package dont remember which one he said he had run a 14.4...fast cars out here dont look very fast.
The thing is that its like im just barely goin from the 2000 to 3500 rpm range...I get beat by everything off the line ie prelude, se-r spec v, even a mercury tracer took me off the line sure i ran all off them down but if i could get off the line it would be a different story
would a bad ac compressor be slowing me down, i just had my pulley put on and the belt goes around the bad ac compressor...i dont notice my car revving any faster, and im not running any faster. could that be a problem
You shouldn't be running the AC while your dragging. I know it disengages under heavy acceleration but you want your engine electronics to get all of the amps they can get from your alternator.
Are you running the correct NGK plugs? Running colder plugs will make you run 17's in the 1/4 also.
What's wrong with your timing chain? Even if it's making noise, you shouldn't be running that slow.

actually im running on crappy plat 4's...So today im going to do some shopping...shorter drive belt, and some ngk coppers. Next week imma go back and see what i get outta those
I actually ran my best time on Bosch +4's but the car still runs better with the NGK's. Like the other guys have said, you have to get a better 60' time to get a low 1/4 mile time.
