1st Time at the strip !! Tell me what you think to improve !!

Hey guys, it was my first time at the strip tonight. It was really fun. Here is my setup..

1996 GXE Maxima 5spd. 282000km. Bone stock.
Tires were at 35psi.. (yeah I know... was too excited to even think about it !!)
Had half a tank of gas, all my tools in the trunk, baby seats (you shoulda seen the looks.. hehe), and the spare was in as well.
It was about 16C outside and humidity was probably low.
Here are the time slips :
Oh yeah, stayed in 3rd gear in all the runs.. and was really really close to redline and engine was probably struggling...

1st run ever : (major wheel hop... till second gear, launched at 2000rpm)
R 0.059
60 2.447
1/8 10.001
1/4 15.528
mph 91.781

2nd : (major wheel hop... till second gear, launched at 2000rpm)
R 0.522
60 2.319
1/8 9.870
1/4 15.346
mph 89.186

3rd : (personnal best, still same wheel hp, lauched at 2500rpm)
R 0.714
60 2.352
1/8 9.857
1/4 15.333
mph 89.165

4th : (almost no wheel spin, slipped the clutch on start, on purpose)
R 0.194
60 2.351
1/8 9.941
1/4 15.427
mph 89.050

5th : (back to 2000rpm lauch, a bit less wheel hop)
Runned against a 2004 spec V, I won

Spec V Me
R .309 .533
60 2.423 2.370
1/8 10.130 9.945
1/4 15.693 15.429
mph 91.597 89.089

6th and last : (lauch at 2000, less wheel spin, had a 210lbs friend on board)
R .215
60 2.390
1/8 10.133
1/4 15.752
mph 89.236

Soooo, what do these numbers tell you ? What should I be on the lookout for ? I'll get y and b pipe and ultraflow this summer, hope to dip in the 14s, think it's possible ??

Let me know what you all think !!

PS... Oh yeah, 2 runs I didnt post, 1 redlight and 1 which second gear didnt want to go in... hehe

you're 60' times can be significantly improved, which will drop around 2 tenths off your ET. The y-pipe will help your power a lot, so well drivin you could definatly hit the 14's. WOrk on your launch

Yeah, you're probably right. I guess the wheel hop probably didnt help either. I still have original engine mounts. Which still look in good shape but probably didnt help... Thx

An idea to help with the launch: get some heavy duty zip ties and "clamp" the front shock springs. That'll help minimize the lift you get when launching hard. I tried it tonight, seemed to work ok. Also, get some sort of rubber blocks to put in the rear springs to raise the back of the car up. Should help some. And most importantly, get a feel for how sticky the track is and where your traction limits are. For example, I was running 14.4's and 14.5's tonight at the strip and there was a 6 speed max (I'm an auto) that ran a 15.8 cause he didnt know how to launch it right. With traction, he'd be in the low 14's too, but was over 1 second off because of the launching techinques. Head over to the track a few more times and really get the hang of launching. Dont worry about getting times, just concentrate on getting off that line wtih minimal wheel spin. The good times will follow that

Good job.
14's are definitely possible.
There is a 4th gen(h2kpinkpnthr) that ran a 14.788 bone stock one time. That is just good driving....No! Excellent driving!

My PB is 15.15 and I will be in the 14's next time I race. I have only run my car 5 times and that was one night at the track. It is fun.

Your trap speeds are silly low. I don't know why this is? Probably do to your 60' times. Get those up(with better launch) and you will be faster in the trap.

Keep it up.

your first reaction time was nice but you can tell you had a lot of tire spin. i dont know too much about this but after my first couple times out you start to realize the major factors contributing to your low times. you would be surprised how fast your car can really go if you nailed those few things right. but the times were pretty decent and if you keep it up 14's here you come (a couple of mods would confirm it).

hey good runs ! nailing a lower 60 foot, and adding a y pipe or headers should get you into the 14's. nice runs !
