Nice Times!

Yea after goin to a decent dealer they covered it. Of course I had to remove the nitrous but it did get replaced under warranty after a little hassle from another dealer.

Nice times. Nitrous is great eh? Hows the drop resistor work for you in the 1/4? I havent tried it yet, wondering if you feel it shifted faster than normal?

Wow that sounds almost tooooooo good to be true I guess it really makes you think, why get a supercharger huh? Anyway can you tell me if you have the stock rims on the car or aftermarket? Also what size? I am trying to decide what to do NOS or Vortech....From the posts the other guys on this forum have done the best I saw (with 10 psi) from a maxima was 13.83 1/4 so your 13.17 1/4 mile is MUCH better and I am sure that you spent less than for a Vortech.

Thanks

i have the stock rims on it. instead of spending 3-4k on a supercharger my n20 was only like 600 bucks. i like it better cause you can use it when you want to. dont forget we have different motors but 13.8 doesnt sound that impressive for the amount of money you would be paying.

You are comparing apples to oranges bud.

You forgot to mention that the Max that got a 13.8 was a 1995. A 02 max has a 40lb/ft torque and 65hp more with stock trim. Also, the traps are about the same even though the mid track trap is lower for the 95... usually meaning traction issues plagued the 95.

Back to thte topic, nice run Tally. That 60' is excellent for street tires IMO. Hell, all of those numbers are good. Did you know you are driving a 12 second grocery-getter? Are you going to invest in some stickies soon?

hey man thanks a lot, its funny cause when i ran in the 1/8 mile a few months ago, with my stock potenzas my 60' was 2.0 now i got new nt555 235/45/17 my 60 was 2.1. go figure. i had just put them on so i dont think they were broken in enough. but yeah im trying to save some money for some slicks, i just dont know the best place to get some is. also, this 12 second grocery getter sure did suprise a lot of people at the track.

best 1/4 pass at 10psi = 13.8?

i am running 10psi my best run to date is 12.9 @ 111. this is also on street tires. deciding between N20 and boost comes down to if you want to have power ALL the time or SOME of the time.

with N20 it is great for the drag strip, but on the road ...it might not be the best idea. using it in trafficed areas or on a road that isnt long and straight isnt my idea of fun.

with boost, yes you end up spending a bit more...but its there at every stoplight, every twisty road and any other situation you put it in. the fun factor in driving with boost greatly goes up.

its just a matter of what YOU want to get out of your car.

and Tallymax...very nice times, keep up the good work

OK guys. I know that is a crappy time. But keep this list of excuses in mind:

boosted for 6 days prior to race (so best time for the first day out)
50 degrees, peeling traction compound on track and mostly cloudy = no traction (I have a pair of MTs at home)
USIM (MEVI still in a box)
stock ECU
Stock flywheel (fidanza on order)
stock clutch (melted it once that day) (clutchnet 6 puck on order)
Open Differential 5spd trans (non-LSD)
largely untuned with a 10:1 afr (I'll get around to fixing that)
full interior and trunk

That was a baseline run. My point of a baseline run is to see what times I can turn out under the worst conditions. I will then be able to reduce weight, tune, upgrade, etc throughout the season to finally (hopefully) get a decent time towards the end of the season. May seem weird but I like to see what things help and how much.

So with that in mind, do not use 13.8 as a benchmark for any SC'd max. I'm just documenting my progress publicly in the moderated forum.

If anyone wants to reply to this post specifically, please start another thread. Let's not hijack Tally's thread more than I already have.

[edit] Requin6: 12.9 is a GREAT time IMO too busy being all defensive to give you props, sorry about that [/edit]

Thanks,
D

sleepermax, i didnt see your post that said you ran 13.8 with 10psi...there was a previous post that said the best he could find was 13.8 @ 10psi. so i was in no way trying to discredit your performance at the track

as with anything...you will get better with practice. your times will drop with more seat time i am sure.

with a good driver and a decent track there is no reason why a boosted max at most any psi shouldnt go mid to low 13s. so 13.8 isnt the best benchmark to set in my opinion.

ok i am done the hijack! great job again tallymax!

6 puck? Isn't that going to wear the transmission fast?

I wouldn't be surprised if I destroy it. But I need something that will handle about 400+ lb/ft when I install the direct port N.O.S. system

Between the spongy motor mounts, spongy slicks and sprung disk (not to mention adjusted driving style, I hope) I should be able to keep it intact for a while.

When the tranny goes, I'll fix it. Same with the axles, motor, etc. The way I see it, it's the reward I get for putting down lots-o-power.

D

P.S. The best I could muster with this old stock clutch was 13.4 @ 108 with slicks. Kinda frustating knowing that the motor has more to give. Requin6 has set the bar for me. But I'll be in another classification when the nitrous sprays. Oh well.
