Ran today at the track in 80+ degrees, really impressed by the Max...

What's up all.

Went as part of a Nissan/Infiniti outing to Byron Dragaway in Byron, IL. Elevation is 729 feet (courtesy of city-data.com website <-- pretty nifty website, check it out...), wind was not a factor, it was 74 degrees when we arrived at 1030 am, track temp 78 degrees on my first pass. 1st pass at 25 psi, 2nd at 20 psi.

1051am

Ferbs Mike

60' .000 2.290
330 6.373 6.352
1/8 9.671 9.668
MPH 75.30 73.50
1000 12.506 12.544
1/4 14.903 14.953
MPH 93.99 94.51

1) Didn't register a 60' time, I'm quite bothered by that...
2) I didn't hook up extremely well on this run.

Run #2 82 degrees

1226pm

60' 2.256 <-- Yay!
330 6.374
1/8 9.722...what????
MPH 74.24
1000 12.590
1/4 15.017...double what????
MPH 93.02...i'd like to see a weather correction to about 45 degrees

That's it. Got two runs in 4 hrs. I wanted to get back inline, but cars kept on coming in. There was at least 200 cars today. They had a pretty big event which we all failed to note until we arrived, doh!

Weather was a dry heat, almost no humidity in the air. Car felt extremely sluggish.

If only this track was open at night and during the week. Then we could run without tons of other cars around, and we could benefit from nice cool night air.

Not even close to my target et or trap, but then again conditions were far from optimal...

Yeah it was hot today. Good times considering the dry heat. Too bad I couldn't make it.

Best of the day was 13.8@102.3.. This is with spraying from 3600 to 6000rpm.. Next time I will be spraying much sooner now that I can get traction from the D/R's.. It was fun..

Heat and the low pressure was a killer as well as the track being byond crowded. The had a record number of entires, 300+. Everyone was slow. I only ran street tires a couple times with a best 14.6 @ 95 w/ a 2.299 60'.

Went hoping to run 13's on the slicks, but once I realized how hot is was going to be I knew it would not happen. I needed to be running at least 14.4's on streets to be able to run 13's on slicks. Neal, who usually runs a solid 3-4 tenths faster than me never saw anything below 14.3's. Byron Dragway was not it's usual fast track.

Put the slicks on anyhow just for $hits and giggles. I fried the clutch really bad trying to heat them up. Being my first time on slicks I was not sure exactly how to smoke them up. Ended up not droping the clutch right and tried to slip the clutch. When I tried to launch I just sat there and the burned my clutch up really bad. It was useless the rest of the day. Tried 2 more runs but the clutch was not having it. Pulled a 2.10 60' and went 14.6 with the clutch slipping all the way down the track. It felt like I was accelerating in 5th gear. I will just have to wait for some better weather and practice with the slicks to see 13's. Oh well.

Sorry I missed everybody today. And sorry the track was so crowded and weather sucked. At least everybody will be wanting a redo on a cooler day.

My slicks didn't arrive and my alignment isn't ready for the strip. (measured -4.5deg camber yesterday). And I was just exhausted after the Mazda Revitup @ Arlington this morning.

Sam ran a really good time with the 75 shot. His car is scary quick. I'd like to see it in cooler weather. As was noted by Mike, it was simply too warm to get any good times/traps. Oh well.

Mike, your top end is pretty nasty! 21mph on the big end, wow!

Derek, yeah car felt like it hit the proverbial wall.

Ceasar, weather was a killer today...

Oh well, season's early. I dont anticipate having another day with 300+ cars at the track. Today really was an aberration...

Brian, next time bro.

Hot weather really sucks the life out of these cars. For about every 10 degrees in temp increase, I tend to loose .1 and 1mph. Last year I did manage a 14.60@95mph on a 102 degree day running on my 17s, tools, spare, etc. I was running about 97 octane though and no one was at the track so I was able to let the car cool off best it could and then make a pass. Sitting in long lines is about as deterimental to performance as hot weather.

BTW, your track is completely different from mine. On hot days (80+) no one shows. On cold days EVERYONE is there.

Sorry to bring this thread back to life, but I was looking at my pb times/traps and just wanted to document how much weather affects your times. On my pb, the weather was perfect for racing, and on the day I ran these slow times, it was 40 degrees warmer...Link on my pb's below, these times are stock times, before my intake and ypipe.

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=262379

R/T .642
60' 2.282
330 6.233
1/8 9.504
MPH 74.28
1000 12.348
1/4 14.764
MPH 94.48

R/T .568
60' 2.230
330 6.199
1/8 9.479
MPH 73.88
1000 12.337
1/4 14.764
MPH 94.02

Even with intake and ypipe, I still hit the proverbial wall up top, as documented by my 18.69mph increase 1/8th to 1/4 on run #1, and 18.78mph 1/8th to 1/4 on run #2.

On my pb runs, I was picking up 20mph+ on the top end. Pretty significant between 18.7x and 20.xx top end pickup! Granted different track, but you get the general idea.

Another thing, I know my mods are working, because EVEN in spite of bad weather, I still registered a 75.30 1/8th mile trap, whereas on my pb et/traps, the best I did was 74.2 1/8th mile trap, and again this in perfect weather.

Tell me if my thinking is flawed, but if my 1/8th mile in less than desirable conditions are 74's and 75's, on a cool day the 1/8th mile can go up to 76mph...So...IF (big if) I can find an optimal day, I think I can probably trap out at 96.5. The ET being an issue of hooking up.

Anyway, I was just bored and in digging up my pb times, I thought this was interesting.

Ironically, when I ran my PB time (14.725 sec) it was 82 degrees (according to timeslip).
