SUPER 104+ OCTANE BOOST plus 2 gallons of gas at track

anyone care to take a stab at 2 gallons of 93 with one bottle of SUPER 104+ OCTANE BOOST

its only a 16 oz. bottle, I have been adding it to about 2 gallons of gas when at the dragway. It cost around 7.49 cents a walmart per bottle. What would this bump me up to ? Im no good at math !

you know ceasar, that when those octane boosters claim to add __points in octane rating, that it is really in tenths.

EX: let's say 104+ says it adds 6 points to the octane rating, it would only bump it up to 93.6 not 99

Just get some toulene and be done with it bro

just get a gallon of 104-106 octane at the track if its available. The local track here actually has 106 unleaded. It will be cheaper and actually raise the points rather than throwing away $7 on that octane booster junk.

what's the most octane you can buy at a regular gas station??? the most i've seen was Sunoco 94 Octane...

in Poland, where I grew up, every Shell station has 99 Octane gas available...but I haven't seen any here...

You should try some real 104 race gas. Get that octane up to about 96-97 and see what happens.

one 16oz bottle of 104 octane boost plus 2 gallons of 93 octane gas would result in an octane rating of 93.64.... not worth your $7 by a long shot.

Is there any real point in adding race gas to a stock/near stock 3.0/3.5?? I've been doing the same thing CEASERs been doing just figuring it couldn't hurt. I knew when I bought the stuff it wouldn't really raise the octane "that" much.

I know plenty of places I can get 106+ race gas around here, if it's worth it...

Just buy a gallon of toluene (~$7-10) at the hardware store. It's 114 octane so mix it with about 5-6 gallons of 92 octane. That should bring you up into the 95-96 octane range which is about all you'll need.

The way they calculate octane overseas is different than the way we calculate it. 92 octane here is equal to about 97 octane over there.

Not really. I do it and ceaser does it as well as a few others. We either have aftermarket ECU's or are boosted. That is the only way I see the need.

That's what I figured. Definately OK for FI/comp. modded cars. What about if I decide to do this "timing advance" mod at the dealer that I keep hearing everyone talk about? Will it be worth it then to mix in some race gas???

Thanks, Jon

im going to check on race gas, one track i go to may have 100 unleaded , if this is the case im going to dump a gallon in with a little less than 1/4 tank of 93.

did anyone ever hear of the cheston mod that technosquare will do on the ecu upgrade ? it was supposed to be more aggresive than the regular upgrade ? anyways i told danny thats what i wanted and there was some mention about how a higher octane would work better with the ecu.

Shell has started experimenting with Vpower a 94 octane to see how it will sell. From what i understand they are testing it in california and new orleans/some parts of Louisiana. i hope to locate some this wed on my way to the dragway.

certainly dont want to cause a scare, i could have several other things going on with the max that is causing some mild engine ping (injen intake, egr, and possible ecu upgrade) all this combined on a warm day could be the cause.

with that in mind i have been searching for a higher octane. for now im just swaping out the stock ecu for daily driving and upgraded ecu on race day. actually through the winter months i havent had to worry with it but the heat is starting to kick in again .

there is a gas station about 20 minutes from me that sells turbo blue, which is 104 octane for 3.50 a gallon. not a bad price really. A friend of mine works at a metal fabrication shop and they get chemicals cheap. I'm hoping he can get some toulene for me when I go to a 100 shot.

That is a great price. I can get 100 at local station but it's more than $7 a gallon. 104 at my local track is $5 a gallon. From what I have read/heard about toulene, you would need to by a fairly large quantity in order to get it for less than 3.50 a gallon.

i actually passed the station this morning and it was 3.67/gallon for the 104. Yeah, If I can't get the toulene at a great price I'm just going to get a little can to bring to the track with me. I don't like carrying that stuff around too much though. We had a big nissan meet here in Louisville this past weekend and a friend of mine spilled about 3 gallons of the stuff in his trunk because the nozzle fell back into the can

You can get toluene cheap at a paint store, in quantities usually of 1, 5, or 10 gallons. Also toluene is 114 octane so you dont have to mix in as much of it to get your desired octane rating, and it's not leaded so it won't smoke your o2 sensors like most race gas will (there is unleaded race gas but it's uncommon compared to leaded race gas).

I get 4 or 5 gallons of 100 octane at almost every 76 station in Las Vegas. At $3.95/gal, it's not that bad of a deal. I usually mix in 4.5 gallons into an almost empty gas tank. I am guessing that I have 2 gallons left in the gas tank when the light comes on. So that would put me around 96 octane since normal premium gas around here is 91. Then I load my race fuel program that I have tuned and hit the track. But this past track visit, I just bumped my base timing to 27 degrees and run this higher octane. I didn't use my custom ECU tuning setup.

The fuel that you should be adding is the Red race gas at the track. It is 111 octane, and is the only unleaded gas that is usually there at the track. The Blue, and Purple are both leaded, and will ruin your cat if you run it often. You should add about 1.5 gallons to a 1/4 tank of 93/94. Using the race fuel will only help you if you are running F/I or Nitrous. It will reduce detonation. If you are running all motor, you may be better off at the track with 91/92, unless you have an ECU that is advancing timing. Most of the octane means horsepower is a misconception. Octane ratings mean that the gas will not burn until it reaches a certain temperature. 87 octane gas will burn easier than 94, and that will "in theory" keep the gas from detonating in the chamber before it is compressed, and ignited by the sparkplug.

My first full tank on my car was 94 octane, then I switched to 91 octane. It feels like it has slightly less power. But it's BONE stock, so could there be anything wrong with it? I thought the engine was supposed to be made for 91 octane...
