1/8th mile time -> 1/4 mile estimation?
Hey guys, I just ran at the local 1/8th mile track. I had some very good times. I wanted to pick your brain about my 1/4 mile estimation.
On another forum, they mentioned multiplying my 1/8th mile time by 1.55 to get an estimated 1/4 mile. They also mentioned the NHRA uses 1.56 to get an estimate for 1/4 mile (from an eighth).
Here is my method: since I have a 2k2 Maxima SE Manual, I took the 8 slips from other Maxima bretheren (2k2 and 2k3 SE Manual) in the moderated 1/4 mile slips section. I weeded out the two or three mentioning spraying nitrous. From there, I came up with 8 good, clean looking slips. Upon averaging their (1/4mile)/(1/8mile) ratios, I came up with a factor of 1.5314.
Do you think this is a realistic conversion factor? If so, my 9.037s @ 79.66mph would convert to a 13.84s - 1/4 mile.
Thanks for your input!!!
Elon
