Went to Byron Dragaway today to run my 02 Maxima Se Auto

It was 53 degrees, the track was slippery, track prep wasn't the best as this weekend is one of the last scheduled test and tune's they got this season. Slight headwind, humidity at around 75%, then the air got heavy, and down came the rain. Got in half dozen runs, full weight, spare and jack, tire pressure at 30 psi front.

Got my personal best 60' and trap speed with the help of my new Sumitomo HTR+'s : 2.202 and 91.54 mph The pb 60' and trap were not done on the same run.

Of all the stock VQ35 Auto Max's I have seen, majority are trapping 92-93 mph, not really concerned of the weakish trap because

a) I weigh 280lbs, not good carrying around an extra person when drag racing, lol.

b) I don't know what optimal race conditions are, but damn close to 100% humidity probably wouldn't be it. There were drops of rain on my windshield on my last run, which was a chitty 15.163.

Interestingly, got my quickest time -see below- on a 60' of 2.255 This was with a braketorque of 1700 rpm.

Left Right
Chris' Magnacharged Z06 Ferbs02SMMax
R/T 1.164 .543
60' 1.850 2.255
330 5.032 6.313
1/8 7.575 9.663
MPH 97.31 73.42
1000 9.776 12.583
1/4 11.619 15.060
MPH 122.02 90.95

I managed to pull my pal's blown Z06 out of the hole, and held him off for a good 2 car lengths until he finally hooked the dr's. He then proceeded to put about a dozen buslengths between us.

In total got 4 15.1x's and 1 15.21. On the 15.21 run, I brake torqued to 2000 rpm, and when I let her rip, the whole front end shimmied to the right side, and the tires spun like crazy, got a 2.3xx 60' on that one...

Additional notes:

There was a Stryker TT Viper ran 9.5 at 145. This thing was sick, on hoosiers, not tubbed, 315's I believe. It was a race car for all intents and purposes.
My buddies Blown Z06 ran consistent 11.50's at 122-125 mph. He mentioned he had a hard time hooking up though, weather and track weren't cooperating. Keep on telling him to switch to slicks/skinnies for 10 seconds, but he wants to run it the way it would be run on the street.
Two SRT-4 Neon's stock one ran consistent 14.1-2's at 100 mph. The other had the first modification level upgrade from Mopar, he was running 13.80's at 105. Those things do not play.
1464516515 Fox Body Stangs. They all ran 12's blah !

Thanks for reading.

Wow nice time considering the conditions! The temps were pretty decent, but humidity really kills power and yeah, and extra "passenger" doesn't help either. I've done a little "weight reduction" myself via atkin's diet. Was 300lb, now 225lb. Probably good for about a tenth in the QM. If conditions were better you probably would have been in the upper-14's so no need to make excuses.

Hmmm...I need to clear out the 1/4 mile post queue. Will do that today.

Like I was telling Brad92SE in the regional midwest forum, my worse times on the Sumi HTR+'s are 2.3xx's. I can run consistent 2.2xx 60', that's why it sucks I can't get 14's bone stock.

I got a rain check from Great Lakes Dragaway up in WI, since last time they opened up, but booted us after rain began, Im probably going to head up there in a couple weeks, and I will get a 14.xxx if it kills me. I want a good baseline before the modding begins

You might have a better chance against SRT-4 on a roll, Viper methinks is biting off for than you can chew, lol. No shame in showing the snake the modded VQ35's abilities.

Next time ya run take out a few things from the car. If you still cant break into the 14's, cheat a little and remove your air filter for a run. And ya, the Viper was biting off a bit more than I could chew, but it was oh so fun to see that car keep up without even trying!!!

Nah, last time I checked, personal check I send to my bank on the car loan has my name on it.

Actually it might just be. The pic is from the Nissan meet at Wilson Harbor where Steve, Xander, Brad, Syop showed to represent the Maxima community. If this red 4th gen is yours, all I can say is congrats... When I was younger (high school age) I had to walk to school. Oh, btw, I wish I could watch "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" while in my car, lol.

Below is a link to a better pic of your car:

Remove the filter and leave the air cleaner open, may give you a better 2nd half. Your numbers are right on with mine when running stock in high humidity (high 14's, low 15's).
