Weight Reduction: Is there anything else ?

Im getting ready to hit the dragway this weekend. And got to wondering if there was any extra weight hiding that I could easily get out.

I take out:

1. headrest
2. floor mats
3. complete backseat
4. "gut the trunk" spare and everything else

I have to have the passengers seat but besides this any ideas ?

Airbags is the only thing i can think of and im not sure on how to do that..anyways..thought someone might have an idea

Bumper supports. Just don't get in a crash on the way there.

Also get a lightweight battery... theres 30lbs, and a CF hood, there's another 30 lbs, and a race seat, there's another 25lbs. That's almost 100lbs for about a $800 assuming you don't get some crazy Momo 1000 Lakes carbon kevlar seats that are $2500 a piece lol. I know this stuff doesn't help you this weekend but for the future I'm talking.

i have looked at the dynobat battery, now that cold weather is approaching i was wondering if it would crank ?

the dynobat
http://www.performancedistributors.com/batteries.htm

being on a stinking budget makes things take forever to get, i called sparco and got a quote of 857 for a pair of their bottom of the line seats, and then i see on ebay where someplace sells nismo seats for around 400-500 a pair. i emailed them about the weight of the seat but no response yet.

and carbon fiber hood..here is another great mod for cutting some weight. still a ways off on this one. i still have the body kit sitting here to be installed. so after that i may try it.

Hey Ceasar,
Got a link or something on those Nismo seats? I'm kinda looking for seats too, but the prices aren't friendly to the pocketbook.

nismo seats

Let me know what you think ? These look pretty good, if they weigh the same as the bottom of the line sparcos, i would take these .

Wow, those actually look pretty nice. Are you the winning bidder? I would ask the seller who makes those seats. They are probably made by one of the larger companies and have the Nismo embroidered on or something. Other companies seats can be had for less than Sparco, just that Sparco seems to have a pretty good reputation. I used to have a sheet I put together with all the various companies and the seats I liked from them with all the prices. I'll have to see if I can find that somewhere. I would really like to sit in a seat before I buy it though, I still use my car everyday. Keep my updated either on this thread or through PM's or e-mail. Thanks.

I dunno if you've tried this, but pick up a short belt and disconnect your AC unit. It'd be like addin an UDP since there is less mass to rotate. Might be a pain in the butt for a little extra pull, but you only want another 1/100 or so to dip into the 14.4xx right? give that a try if you're feeling inspired

disconnecting the belt from the AC wont really do much because they are clutch driven, so when the AC is not on, its basically an Idler pulley. You really wont notice a difference.

obviously the rear seat. you could take out the glove box/center console if you want to, also the door panels if you want to. I would advise against trying to take out the Air bag.

Lastly you could take out the drivers seat and use a milk crate instead

Those are really quite nice IMO, I just wonder how easy it is to install them. Call me a ricer but I just think having a some nismo parts in my car would be pretty cool (even though they are most likely knockoffs) Damm, I really want those now.. /me starts saving....

This months issue of SCC has a race seat comparison with weights and what waist sizes they fit. It is very comprehensive and there is a nex seat that weighs less than all of the sparcos at 11.8 lbs and only costs $275.

Also for the track you might consider the little things like your speakers or the matal plate behind your rear seats that seperates the trunk and passenger area or even your interior door panels although that is getting kind of extreme.

That is a GREAT link for ya. Read it and consider it. So far, I only have done gutted trunk and removed passenger and rear seats (120lb reduction). I am concentrating on unprung weight right now.
