Bodykit reduces trap speed?

I am curious, has anyone discovered if a bodykit reduces your trap speeds at all considering the added wind drag? I know it won't be too much , but has anyone ventured to run w/ & w/out the kit to see? hmm

That sounds pretty far fetched to me. I would think factors like temperature and humidity would have a much greater effect on trap speed than the areo drag of a body kit.

Its not like these cars are aerodynamic marvles anyways...

yes i dont claim to have any idea on this topic haha, and it very likely could be far fetched i was just pondering the thought, if a police-car light-bar on top reduces their top speed by 8-14mph ..

i dunno, maybe someday i'll try it - and yes of course temp humid, etc have their effect, i almost learn to like that haha

I don't think it will necessarily reduce the trap due to drag, but it may due to additional weight on the vehicle...

I just did a few cartest runs with it and got these results. I increased the stock coefficient of drag from .32 to .34 to simulate the added drag of a body kit. The car went from 13.97 @ 101.49 to 13.99 @ 101.18 so it dropped .02s and .31mph. Not much of a difference, like ej said the weather conditions will have more of an effect. Top speed dropped by 3mph.

It all depends on the body kit. A stillen kit isn't going to cause much difference if any. But if you have one of the big kits like the Sarona or Skyline, it may matter. Not so much the front bumper, but the back bumper is huge on both of those kits. And the design looks like a giant air scoop. Look at it closely, and you'll see what I'm talking about.

And I don't have any hard numbers, but for the last few months, I was driving around with no back bumper while I'm waiting to send my car to the body shop, and on top speed runs, the car seems to pull harder. That and there's less wind noise. But that's going from a big Sarona bumper to no bumper. Probably not going to be too noticable going from stock to body kit.
