I am going to STEELE ALABAMA tomorrow, Alabama International Dragway. Opens at 1pm...closes at dark. No excuses for far drive...im driving 3+ hrs to get there.
Its going to be fun!!!!!!!!
Great weather for racing!!!!!!!!
Last chance to get a good ET this season!!!!!!!!!
Why did you run a 14.66 with a 2.4 60'? Because that track freaking rocks. Take a good hard look at some of the quickest and fastest Maximas for thier mods and you'll notice that A LOT of them run at Steele, Al. VeeTec, Victim64, 96Sleeper, and that guy with the 14-second auto NA 3rd gen are prime examples. Take advantage of that track's quick times. I'd drive 3 hours if that's what it takes to run better times. I wouldn't waste my time at any other track if you have the option of running at Steele.

I agree with everything you said. But the thing was it was too cold. Nobody got traction. I talked to a dude with a 12.9 Cobra that ran two 14.3s back to back.
You have to get there when its sunny and cold. It snowed at one point as I noted in my post. Trust me man I get 2.2s all the time. I didnt get it once yesterday. Just the track conditions at the time. 96sleeper pulled a 2.1 around 1:00 but I didnt get there till about 3:30 when it started snowing as I pulled into the parking lot.

Dave I just checked your profile to see what city in KS you are in, and I went to mapquest and got driving directions to the track me and Mike and Jason are going on saturday. It's 460 miles, about a 7 hour drive. Whaddaya say Its 270 miles and like 4h 15m for me.

I know it is a bit of a drive, but we spend thousands of dollars in mods to get good times at the track, what's a few hour drive to go to a good track???
Steele is only a good track when it is somewhat cold, and the sun has to be shining on the track or it is slick. The humidity in AL is bad when it is warm, and the times get bad. I made the 3 hour drive on Sunday because I figured it was the last cold day of the year with low humidity and it would be my last trip of the year as well.
