I have a 96 5speed with intake. My question is, will I be able to take a n/a 300zx auto? This kid I know talks a lotta crap about my car but doesn't want to race. When I asked him to race he's like, "Are you serious? what is that thing?"
What do these cars run in the 1/4?

If you can some what drive , your car will kill it...Autos run low 16s in the 1/4, my friend with one ran a 16.2 with intake and exhuast

i just posted a question about the 300zx . i saw a 300zx with twin turbo on the web, something like 305 estimated HP, and he was running high 14's from what i remember in the 1/4 . im confident i could nose out a win, futhermore i need to get to the track to see what the chariot can really do ..i do test runs out on open highway , i got 98-99 mph today .. i have a 5 speed 97 SE .. you guys should take it to the track ... i would race him, i cannot believe he said," what in that thing?" i bet he is not much better if he is faster, but on the flip side, there is prolly a 100 Z's that would leave me in the dust , cant know
Friend of mine has a NA Auto 300zx, and he's got quite a few mods, and runs 14.9 or so. Shouldn't be too tough for you. He claims that someone got a NA into the low 13's with I/E/ECU/internal work + slicks.
i wouldn't worry about that guy. a Z would take you in the twisties, but a straight race you should have no problem at all... even if he's got a few mods. 300Z's are sweet cars... but they are def. are not drag champs. i've had a few shocked Z owners astounded when all they saw were my tail lights. so if he's all talk, just blow it off... but if he wants to race, put him in his place... do it at a track though... don't want to see anyone wrapped around a tree.
N/A 300Zs are dogs. There was a 300Z meet at an event I was at once... let's just say there wasn't an N/A Z there running within a half second of me, and I was stock. I've also raced on on the highway in my ex girlfriend's 97 Jetta GL automatic. The 300Z won but not by a whole lot.
i've smoked more than one n/a 300ZX in my max (and mine's an auto). they're pretty slow. of course, mods help any car, but car for car, the maxima's faster. sidenote:don't race a TT Z-car though he'll leave ya standing if he can drive it properly, a buddy of mine ran a 13.5 with just 1 or 2 mods. but yeah, you'll smoke the guy. heck, try to get him to bet money

Posting about Street Racing is illegal in this forum, but what the hell:
I raced a NA 300 ZX 5spd on the interstate a few months back. I was stock at the time. He had exhaust work and intake. I inched him on 70mph punches to about 110. Would pull about a car on him. He rolled down his window and asked what I had done. I said nothing, its just a 5spd!! I then asked what he had done and he told me about the above mentioned... Only ones I have seen at the track have been turbos and they would eat you alive!!
