Originally posted by SonicDust187 The lower your R/T the 1/4 time will be lower. When I lowered my R/T from 1.xxx to .5xxx I went from 15.8 to a 15.4 and picked up almost 3mph.
The fact that you lowered your RT had nothing to do with your better run. I could have a 20 second RT and a 14 second ET if I wanted.
look at your 60' times 3.0 and 2.5. If you get those to the 2.2 range you have 15.6-15.7's were your at now. Put on 15's if you have them and reduce whatever weight you can stereo etc.. and that is good for a few tenths.
Did you brake torque? Your car should be much faster than that. With your mods, you should be around mid to low 15s. And yeah, lose some weight. Put the stock wheels back on.
i brake boosted and manual shifted...thats y i got the 17's
i spun like crazy when i brake boosted...while i was doing that i was in 1st...then my car was redling and i had to throw it in drive...that why i lost time at that run.... the second time i did not brake boost...i just manual shifted
i have the 16 gxe wheels 2001...are those heavy? what else can i take out to improve my time?

when you stall the car you don't have to stall to the maximum just enough so its not at idle speed. When you launch the car you slowly accelerate until you feel you have traction and then go WOT. As for the wheels yes they will be better than running heavy 18's.
Don't brake torque too high. I brake torque at 1800 rpm, that's my optimal launching rpm for my car. Experiment with different lanching rpm, see which is best for you. After each run, I would write down on the slip at what rpm I launched at. The next time I launched at a different rpm, and so on. After three or four runs, I examined the slips to see which rpm launch gave me the best result. Try this, it really helped me out. Lower your front tire pressure to about 25psi, leave the rear alone. Try leaving it in Drive to see how you'll do. If you do bad, manually shift the next time. For whatever reason, I seem to get better result just leaving it in Drive oppose to manually shifting. Also run with as less gas as you could, about 1/4 or less left.
It's all about the launch V. I brake torque at 1700 and let off the break but dont floor it til im moving. That way I get no wheel spin and pretty decent 60 foot times. With my 16s back on I think I'll be able to reach into the 14s, but it'll be close. Didnt you say my car was slow and that your GXE would smoke me? j/p man. More practice and you'll get the hang of it. What other people have been saying, go on the third yellow and you'll get real good R/Ts. Be careful with manual shifting as it takes your tranny a bit to shift. Dont hit your rev limiter, as this is bad for your times and real bad for your tranny.
