Newbies first time at track today

I am going to the track today with a 1996 Auto with a OBX catback and pop-charger. I probally should expect 16's or mid 15's right? I am going to go there with brand new Bridgestone Potanzas in the front. I think that should help a little bit. I umm drive fast a lot, is low 15's to idealistic.

Well I went, man its tougher than I thought. My fastest was a 15.77 with a .403 reaction time. My fastest reaction time was a .203 and my fast mph was 89.53 . If I would of had my best reaction time my last run which was the fastest I would of gotten a 15.5 so next time at the track I will be prepared.

Reaction time has nothing to do with ET. If you like you can sit on the line for hours.... your time doesn't start till you break the beam.

What were your 60ft times?

The reaction time does not get included in your ET. BTW a reaction time under .500 on a sportsman tree (which is when the lights go down in sequence) is called a redlight and it means you are DQ'd (if you were really racing.)

It's true at every 1/4 mile and 1/8th mile track at the world. To test it, sit on the line for about 10 seconds, and then go. You will still run the same time you did if you went when the light went green or before it. Or you could just take our word for it. RT is reaction time i.e. the time it takes you to "react" to the light turning green. ET is the Elapsed Time i.e. the total amount of time it takes you to span the 1/4 mile once you start moving.

well its your first time, you will get better. 15.7 isnt to bad for an almost stock auto. with a y-pipe, you can get more out of your OBX and if you practice your launches and get a y-pipe you can expect to see around a 15.4 or so. you would be suprised how much practice can help your times (YES EVEN IF YOU AUTO

your best mod right now would be to practice your launch. your 60 fts. are pretty bad, but that is understandable for a first timer. get those 60 fts. down and you will see a major drop in your ET.

Thats probally the best I can get with my mods right now, right, they seem to be pretty much the same. I squeel my tires off the line, maybe becuase they are brand new, maybe need to be broken in.
