first time at track why so slow..

i was at the track and i ran a 16.16 @ 86 with a 96 automatic gxe with pr cai and exhaust...i had 17s on and no spare or subs..i thought i should be atleast in the 15s...any ideas?

You should have been a touch faster perhaps. What are your 60 foot times? My 96 GXE (Bone Stock) ran a 16.19 @ 86.6 (2.38 - 60 foot). I had a 1/2 tank of gas and no weight reduction. So if you had 15 inch wheels - you should be able to break into the 15's.

what kinda reaction time u had, you were probably nervous on the first run.

p.s. i am goin to the track soon for 1st run

R/T's have no bearing on E/T's. Reaction time is when the wheels pass the second staging light....then the clock starts.

BTW, those times sound about right(maybe a tenth faster) especially on 17's, try getting you some 15" steelies to run on. They don't look great but they do the job when at the track.
