ok, the dc crew went to the 7580 dragway today. It was very hot and very humid. Lots of us were disappointed, including me. a 2k2 auto with Injen cold air managed only 92mph trap.. nobody gets a good time from 7580. And DCMax, your feedback would be appreciated, since a lot of us are very perplexed, and you have experience getting a bad time at 7580 too. And DAve B, please give us your feedback too. Your opinions on the 1/4 is highly regarded. There's like 5 dc members looking for some explanations. lol
2nd Run (N/A and I redlighted)
RT .483 60' 2.63 330' 7.05 1/8 - 10.69 1/4 - 16.45 @ 83.95 hmy:
3rd and best run
RT .791 60' 2.55 300' 6.53 1/8 - 9.70 1/4 - 14.73 @ 97.95
My power mods are as following:
Franken style intake
ypipe
NOS 70 shot.
I turned on the juice at 3000 in 1st, and I was getting massssive wheel spins and hops.. no traction at all. Nex time, I'll turn it on in 2nd, and see how that goes.
For my 2nd run, which was without NOS, I was expecting a trap speed of low 90's and a time of high 15's. how can I only get 84mph???? I am dumbfounded. Another 4th gen(Sexima) with my same mods, but he has PRCAI, got a trap of 88.. I'm thinking if my hybrid is hurting my performance. I might go back to true cold air...
I was gonna do one more baseline all motor run, but then it got rained out..
For tonight, my NOS took off 1.7 Secs off my baseline 1/4 !!!
I checked the historical weather for the DC area today and it looks like conditions were absolutely crappy. 90s with high humidity isn't going to do your car any favors. Conditions alone are sucking .5 seconds and 4mph out of your times. Another thing that's really killing your car's 1/4 mile is your 60 foots. Either you're bogging huge off the line or you're going up in tire smoke. If you're smoking the tires, then baby the car off the line. I hate to say it, but a Corolla auto could pull a 2.5 60'. Every .1 you take off your 60', you'll drop .2 in the 1/4 and gain a 1 mph.
On a cool day and a 2.30 60', you should be able to get high 13s@100+ with nitrous and 15.3s@90+ NA.
As for Sexima running 88mph, did he get a better 60', does he have lighter and smaller rims, doe he not have a stereo? Lots of factors could account for the differences.

i think i redlighted on this run though. does anyone know if there is a penalty associated with this? my time slip has MOV 1.0497, but i don't know what that means
You guys need to bring those 60s to 2.2?? , somewhere in there!!!thats what makes or breaks your time right there. I have been doing lots of 1/4 mile research!!
anyways look you DC guys are going to be very lucky pretty soon!!!you guys are going to get a Gift from New Orleans!!!
you guys figure it out soon enough!!!!
No I am serious!!!!you guys will have one of the fastest max around in the Nation!!

It will be nice to see his car in person but it's probably gonna make me cry when I look back at mine. I'll have to park a couple of spaces down from him and make sure I'm never lined up w/ him at any lights. hehe
when I got 14.7 @98, I was spinning AND bogging really bad. But I can get consistent 2.35 60' now. So the next time I go to a track with a full bottle, I think I can get 14.4.
woah, got scared for a second. A nos maxima only running high 14's wit an intake and y-pipe? but bad conditions....
gee, what part of america would be best to run anyway? all these dam sea level problems

I'm S/C'ed and only ran a 14.7 with a 2.3 second 60'.
3.25" Pulley, and MEVI, 267hp total.
So your times really aren't bad at all.

That h.p. figure doesn't match up to the time. Were you having any noticable loss when you ran?

I wish there was a track that was longer than 1/4. I routinely go up to 110mph and up when i'm street racing. (no flaming please)
You have to go way way past the 90 or so trap most of us get, when you're racing anyone on the street.
Remember, in 4am highway racing, winning by 2,3 car lengths is all the difference, although that might not translate into a huge timed difference on the track. Plus, if you need to get up to 100, 110mph to beat someone by 2 car lengths, chances are the 1/4 time on those 2 cars will not have eye popping difference.
I measure 1/4 to see if the mods work or not, and to make sure that my car doesnt have any problems. Even if I got a low time with SC and VI, I would not be that worried unless something is wrong with the car. In real life, a SC/VI equipped auto/manual max will totally destroy any bolt on equipped 5spds, although they might have gotten similar slips on the 1/4 track. (4th gen VS 4th gen, 5th gen VS 5th gen)

No.
But remember, the 267 is only over 5000RPM's, because of the MEVI.
Without the MEVI, I'm 231, which is way low for a 3.25" pulley.
I've been trying to figure it out for months. I've hooked it up to OBDII scanners, had many mechanics look at it, and tried all sorts of voodoo things, including taking my entire exhaust apart to check for flex problems/clogs.
The car is fine.
I guess that's just what an Automagic and SC with MEVI pulls. Seeing as I am the only one with my Mods, there's no way to prove it right/wrong.

I see.
96sleeper hit a 14.9 n/a, with only a few bolt ons and the VB mod, thats why I was curious. He has an auto.
