Reaction time does not change your 1/4 mile time. It only shows you how long it took you to get off the line, it is not added on.

The only time it has any effect is in bracket racing during the eliminations it will and can and will determine the winner but it still doesn't change your 1/4 mile time or speed.

I can run pretty consistent .5xx reaction times. .500 is perfect on most trees. I nail it as soon as the 3rd yellow lights. Depending on your setup etc it could be a little sooner or later but thats pretty close. Keep going earlier and earlier until you red light. Then just back off a hair.

I thought that .400 is the best launch possible...why are there trees that have .500 fastest????

Sportsman trees, aka when the lights go one after the other are .500 trees. Pro trees, aka all 3 yellows light at once, are .400 trees.

I believe it depends on what tree they're using. See http://www.nhra.com/basics/glossary.html . On the pro tree it's 0.400, but on the full tree it's 0.500. They define what both types on that page.

Most people on here will never see a Pro tree so its .500 for 99% of us.
