Bad driving!

I took my first run in my 02 Max 6 speed last week. I ran a 15.9 with about 60' of burn out off the start. I warmed up the tires for about 2 seconds. Should I be burning out longer to get better traction? I'm really wanting to hit low 15s or maybe break 15 by next week and I need some tips. I only got one run last week because I worked late and got to the track late. My car is all stock, but I pulled the air filter for my run. Will an intake really help out? Is there any cold air intakes for the 02's? Anything would be great.

Should I be expecting 14 seconds stock?

Thanks
Luke

Re: Bad driving!

theres a few 6spds on here hitting mid/low 14's...even the autos are low 15's/high 14's...you probably just need more practice...keep trying!!! I know Frankencar makes intakes for 4th and 5th gens(00-02).

what was your 60 ft time? i guarantee it was really high. you really don't want to do burnouts on street tires. there's no need to. just avoid the water box and roll up to the line...
